SLOODLE is an Open Source project which integrates the multi-user virtual environment of Second Life® with the Moodle® learning-management system. (Sloodle - Simulated Linked Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment). Sloodle is a “mashup” of Moodle and Second life and allows you to operate in a virtual environment whilst having the capability of a Learning Management System - LMS (Moodle). The great advantages of this include the ability to manage the progress of your students using the LMS, provide a multi-user 3D interactive learning environment for your students and allow assessment of their competence in Second Life as well as record results in the LMS. Although only in early versions at this stage, Sloodle is a great innovation in elearning as it encompasses the great benefits and controlled environment of the LMS Moodle which is an easy to construct and navigate environments with the interactivity of Second Life.
The following video gives an overview of how to use presenter view through Moodle in Second Life.
The implications of this technology are very broad in the educational environment as it adds a level of control the to online learning environment, not previously available when using Second Life as a stand alone learning platform.
